Hey Deirdre,
Well said, and thanks! Yes, John's attitude of "ok too" came from his
great compassion for others, and that luminous form of generosity was
at the center of all his work. He was very committed, but I never
experienced that committment to be framed as a Dictator's "my way or
the highway" approach to teaching The Wheel or anything else. His
personal credo of compassion was embodied with the kind of respect that
allowed a "different strokes for different folks" breathing space for
one and all!
I understood this to be a form of unconditional love, and as I
mentioned in a recent post, this emotional connection is more important
to me than the impressive intellectual ideas in John's work and is what
kept me interested to keep coming back for more study and practice.
There were long stretches of time when I would not have contact with
John, but the study of The Wheel still stayed with me and really helped
me to reduce the suffering and expand the positive potential for growth
in my own life.
I'll always be grateful to John for the gift of The Wheel, and I still
consider my self a devotee of his work and to this particular approach
for watching our Essence/Personality. Obviously, without John or his
work there would be no TTMT and Classroom Talk, so I do agree that the
preeminent focus of this site, above all others, is the study and
practice of The Wheel!
Love,
Scot
