Hey JTY,
I've been working on my own while still using John's approach to
awareness practice. A co-worker confided in me about some personal
issues earlier today, and I watched the back-and-forth exchanges in our
conversation from the Personality and Essence perspective from John's
work. Sometimes I'm mindful enough to chart the course in that context,
sometimes I'm not. That's my typical pattern.
I once read a Zen metaphor about awareness that described this waxing
and waning of wakefulness as a lantern that opens and closes from
darkness, to light, and then back to darkness, and so on. I appreciate
the visuals in this particular esoteric description which seems to fit
many of my own experiences to a T!
Thanks very much for the info on the Diamond workshop that's scheduled
for this coming November. I did check-out the Almaas Web site back in
the spring of '08 and placed a few posts of my impressions here at TTMT.
I'd like to hear some of your inmpressions on Almaas' concept
on "inquiry". Maybe this could be a topic for discussion here at TTMT?
