I had originally written most of what is written below here as the end
of the post I made in response to Sorrisi in this thread. But decided
after reading it before pulling the trigger yesterday that I would
pause and edit it and post it here directly to you.
What I was saying to her there at the end in regards to having the
light shined on one of my personality traits brought to my mind what
you kind-a abstractly pointed to when you said, “So, rather than a
surrogate form of psychotherapy, I try to approach Classroom Talk more
as a clearing house or discussion center for ideas (especially John's)
about awareness practice.”
Scot I take that to mean that you weren’t going to get into holding
the mirror up so to speak or help facilitate the use of “shinning the
watt of a thousand candles” as Coach/John used to call it, and was
commonly known to be doing. I can sympathies, as it can easily
escalate into all out war, without very close monitoring and
experienced understanding and hands on effort so to speak that this
type work requires, not to mention the missing element of
the ‘gestalt’ that you have referred to. And even Coach had endured
many battle scares in this regards.
So if I am reading the tea leafs correctly, you are suggesting that
it’s simply a part of the dynamic, ‘that is a part of the curriculum,
and the recorded classroom history in the archives’, that we that have
been around here for a while must simply learn to accept is not part
of what is evadible around here any longer? I do believe I truly and
correctly ‘feel’ you here Scot. As I am fairly closely familiar with
your personal personality and essence so to speak; but I would like to
attempt to encourage you that I have faith that you ‘can’ pull off
from your own type of light shinning that you are personally
comfortable with. And that it might be easier for you to be pulling it
all off if you could drop descriptions like “surrogate form of
psychotherapy” when referring to it and adopt some of Coach’s
terminology like “shining the watts of a thousand candles, or others
he has used, many that aren’t coming to me right now. But at any rate
I believe that you can pull off at least a bit of that what is a
critical part of what this “Work” is really all about, that is laid
out in great detail by Coach that he was experimenting with here.
And to end please try and receive this in the grace and love it is
being sent. Besides I think if you look closely you have already made
beautiful moves in these regards with Sorrisi in some of your work
with her. And you have done it in a way that honors your own
sensibilities and essential qualities (just as Coach had always
attempted to be doing) to what appears to me to have been a beautiful
beginning.
You always have my best wishes, and as always keep up the good work.
And every chance you get, ‘remember’ to feel what’s going on in there
behind those eyes of yours. And from my perspective it seems to be
very often being a very beautiful thing.
