Eddie,

Perk penned, “…..absence is inevitable, and is that from which presence
comes……”

Absence, silence, emptiness (no conditioned reactions) are said to be
the touchstone of love. In your experience with the salesclerk what
work preceded the feeling of love?

Here’s what you said,

“I’ve noticed that one of the most efficient tools I can have developed
and maintained is an honest (as in real i.e. accrete) catalog of my
own personal character flaws that I have become consciously aware of,
and very familiar with their functional operation in my own
personality, and the negative effects they have on others, and how I
am not so different from most others in these same regards. It’s very
important that I can use this ‘developed’ ground in my “observations
memory” as a reminder in the form of a psychological mirror so to
speak to promptly recognize that those negative aspects that I easily
perceive in another almost without exception have squatter’s rights in
my own personality as well. This specific action is in part what is
referred to in the Fourth Way as “External Considering”

When these “squatters” are identified and ignored (as they were when you
were waiting your turn to check out), the true tenants of essence
(love) occupy our houses.

Perhaps this silence in the classroom to Perk’s and your threads may be
that from which presence arises. At a least no one seems to be reacting
from Personality. (Big smile)

I appreciate the work we are doing, sharing and the support we give one
another.

Love,

john
