Scot,
Thanks so much for your contribution. I tend here in Class to use the
term “sleep” to mean I'm not practicing mindfulness and haven't really
explored how needed and essential is a “good night's sleep” to the
practice of mindfulness. Thanks for bring that to the forefront.
During my wife's illness I became a light sleeper. My wife often
needed my help during the night, was reluctant to disturb me and when
she decided she really needed help she often whispered! This light
sleeping habit continues as I wake every couple of hours. Once last
week a memory fragment tricked me into thinking she was calling my
name. However, it may be that it just my age impacting my sleep
pattern.
I trust the work you are doing with the help of the sleep study will
grace you with many good night's sleep.
I'm familiar with the sitting meditations you describe and often use
them and their many variations. I used to sit at a particular time
each day, now I sit when I am moved to sit. I have several guided
meditations that I use as well.
