A message of hope and encouragement…

I want to share a letter I received from a very old, wise, and good
friend during some very difficult personal life situations I was
experiencing recently:
Eddie
We are fortunate people don't you think? Yet the paradox, we live in
abundance and we can be hungry. Kabir says, "The fish in the sea is
not thirsty." But we are, at times, thirsty. Crazy, huh? It is
amazing because we suffer, not just from old age, illness and death,
but mostly from our own damn stupidity. And we do suffer. Quite
amazing isn't it! What we do to ourselves, repeatedly, and
unfortunately to those we love? So when Gurdjieff calls us "slugs",
he is being very very kind.
And, as we begin to see clearly, we suffer another kind of suffering.
I call it the suffering of limitation. There is not only precious
little we can do about ourselves, there is less that we can do to
lessen the suffering of ones we Love. We are so limited. It is
humbling. To watch others go down around us. Ouch! It is no wonder
we remain asleep! Why would someone want to wake up? Isn't it
supposed to be a chorus of angels? Unfortunately, Eddie, you know
what I mean. I know. Not much left of grand illusions.
Continue holding on to some kind of daily practice starting with your
morning prayers. They matter greatly! Both to you and the rest of
us. Trust me on this one. The slightest turn matters. Any given
moment matters. This is more than "faith." This is direct experience.
And it is yours. Right Now!
