"Not-so-funny Stuff" ---Beaucoup
Posted by Bruce on September 28, 2001 at 11:27:33:

John wrote in the Playground Orientation, "Each of the types has a
characteristic self-defetaing style that is built in. We all play to
each other to, ultimately, lose. It DOESN'T have to be that way." As I
observe the collectively ego-driven phenomenon which has been
titled "America's New War", I worry (my Kind Helper) that the one-eyed
Cyclops of mass mindlessness will act out (on a Hiroshima like scale) a
self-defeating cycle that is too horrible to ponder.

I've been studying the Playground Stuff, familiarizing myself with the
Basic Personality types and dynamics while continuing my waking
exercises throughout these, my mostly miserable (door Matty) days.

What stands out in high relief for me on the Political scene is how
much the Dictator, Judge, Believer personality types have dominated the
insane scene here in the US. The Con Artists haven't been deployed yet
because the patriotic blind believers have so self-defeatingly
supported the "campaign" to strike back and eliminate terrorists
threats all over the world (yeah, right!). IT's good to hear that
some "peace" demonstrations are being assembled because "Public
Opinion" is one of the few things that might deter the Administration
from unilaterraly deciding to beging punishing any "state" that
harbors, abets, tolerates terrorists. The Fundamentalists Islam are
also trapped in their self-defeating patterns of Collective Judging,
Rebeling, Dictating, and Believing---Ego Powder kegs that can
realistically blow up the whole friggin chalupa. I just hope "Cooler
Heads" prevail and somehow the Con Artists in Washington will realize
that EXPEDIENCE requires diplomacy, restraint, and ESSENCE to prevent
letting Cyclops loose on the international playground.

I've been studying the types and am beating myself up for having the
Doormat as my chief feature. The Martyr and Kind Helper are other
principle types. I really don't GET yet how bringing mindfulness to the
scoreboard can erase the self-defeating reactive ego from making misery
within and without. Lil help, Coach! I hate myself for being a doormat!

Bruce
