September Eleven Song Posted by Pat Hines on October 25, 2001 at 09:34:04:
When I came into this world, I gave an awful cry,
But the people in that room heard a welcomed sound.
But it wasn't quite that way, on that September day,
In that heartbeat when I rode my building down.
—I know you're filled with rage, but won't you hear my plea?
—Please, don't kill anyone for me.
At a very nice price they built my towers twice,
The height of construction, known the world 'round.
The view from my window would take your breath away,
Especially on that day I rode my building down.
—You're looking for answers while cleaning up debris.
—But, please, don't kill anyone for me.
I worked my job in the heart of town,
I loved my country, and people all around.
I was headed for the top of the world that I had found.
But I lost it when I rode my building down.
—It's hard to imagine, but it's all that you can see.
—But, please, don't kill anyone for me.
Now every flag unfurled sees a new, brave world.
And if you're looking for me, I'm in your hearts, at least.
So don't you weep and mourn, I'm ready to be born,
Full of love and wonder, somewhere in the East.
—So if you send your anger, and drop it oversea,
—I just want you to know that you've done it unto me.
Do you want to take away more heartbeats?
Or bury more breaths in the ground?
Do you really want to lose it,
And ride your Spirit down?
—You can find the answers, with your creativity.
—Just do it for yourself, because I'm already free.
